“A strong positive mental attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug.”
– Patricia Neal

The Power of Our Attitudes
by David Cottrell

“We may not want to admit this responsibility, but the facts are clear: We are in charge of our attitudes - and our happiness. The choices about the attitude we’ll embrace are choices we make every day and a choice we make many times a day.

Your attitude is powerful. When facing serious illnesses, doctors will confirm that many times the difference between survivors and those who do not survive is the attitude of the patient. In sports, coaches will confirm that the attitude of the team is a major portion of the game plan. In school, teachers will confirm that positive kids produce positive results.

In business, a Gallup poll revealed that 90 percent of people say they are more productive when they are around positive people (Cottrell, 2005, p. 73-74).”

Pounce on a Project I - 2008

Come join us for the first Pounce on a Project of 2008! What project would you like to get on top of and accomplish this month that would start the year out with a bang? Come to Pounce on a Project I — 2008. Join Coach Andrea on Thursday, January 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Eastern. We will join as a group by phone and declare what you want to accomplish: getting taxes ready for the accountant, cleaning out those boxes in the corner, getting your website finished or make cold calls.

During the morning, the group will gather by phone a few times to check progress and get any support needed to finish with a bang. At noon, the group will celebrate their accomplishments. Who says projects have to be boring and tedious? Bring your lightness and fun and join us for the energization.

To sign up or learn more, call or Andrea by noon on Wednesday, January 23rd. Feel free to share this with friends and co- workers, the more the merrier. (Cost of the program is only the cost of long distance phone calls.)

Ideas and Information

Say Thank you to your Mentor

When you were a child or young adult, was there someone in your life-a teacher, neighbor, relative, coach, friend, or boss-who encouraged you, showed you the ropes, and helped you become who you are today? That person was a mentor to you.

January is National Mentoring Month, and Thursday, January 24, 2008 will be the fifth annual Thank Your Mentor Day. Take a moment to think about how your mentors accelerated your progress. Then give them a call or write them a note thanking them for being there for you.

Join many others in honoring an important mentor in your life. For more information: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/chc/Thank_The m/intro.html.
