FALL 2003
December 12, 2003 Novakowski Family Gives Holiday Donation to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Ashland Food Pantry
Each year in the beginning of December,
we sit down as a family to talk about giving to others. This year, our children, Jamie and Anna, once again chose Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (www.dana-farber.org/how/gifts/) to receive our family's gift. Why? Jamie said it quite well,
"Rather than having one person or family benefit, we want to contribute to a cause that will impact advancement in a field. This has the potential to benefit many."
We also selected a second charity to support.
My husband, Bill, chose the Ashland Food Pantry. So many people are unable to buy food that is nutritious and good for them. He feels this is a way to help with that situation.
November 5, 2003 Women Against MS Event
This week I attended, along with 500 other supporters, An Evening of Distinction -- A Celebration of Extraordinary Women put on by the Women Against MS of the Central New England
Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Honored were: Suzanne Bates, President of Bates Communications, Linda Buchwald, MD, Medical Director of the MS Care Center at Mt. Auburn Hospital and Marge Van Houten, Officer
of the Central New England Chapter of MS. The event was informative, to say the least. Terri Garr spoke of her experiences and struggles with MS in a way only she can capture! We also received information about upcoming
walks and bike tours throughout NE that are being held in 2004. MS is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that currently has no cure. Please consider helping to raise funds to find a
cure. To get more information on these events go to www.msnewengland.org or call 800-493-9255.

May 2003 Andrea Becomes the First Paper Room Licensee in the World!
The PaperRoom (tm) is a unique career/life mapping process that helps people
re-examine their work situation so that they can successfully clarify, re-focus or redesign their work goals or career path. We all have patterns of doing and seeing things that are reflected in our work. Some of these
patterns work to our advantage, and others can unknowingly sabotage our hard work. The PaperRoom (tm) will enable participants to identify these patterns and develop new ways of doing things that more effectively optimize their
talents, and make career/work choices that are both professionally fulfilling and personally rewarding.
You will learn how to:
1. Better appreciate your strengths and how to access them.
2. Use a template to evaluate work opportunities and challenges to better
insure your success.
3. Develop a personal system to facilitate growth and change.
4. Redesign your work life so that it produces the results you are seeking.
5. Recognize and access the unique conditions that enable you to renew and recharge.
6. Identify the challenges you need to grow.
This process works best for individuals wishing to enrich their work experience.
The PaperRoom (tm) was designed by Sydney Rice and is further outlined in her recent book "Choice Points." If you would like more
information about this great program, please contact me.
May 25, 2003 Memorial Day is this Weekend
Memorial Day is much more than a three-day weekend that marks the beginning of summer. To
many people, especially the nation's thousands of combat veterans, this day, which has a history stretching back all the way to the Civil War, is an important reminder of those who died in the service of their country. Honor them
this day by taking time out for a thought, a prayer, a ritual. Keep the real meaning in this day while you celebrate with family and friends.
